THE SELF/SHIFT METHOD
Motherhood is about expanding who you are — not losing yourself along the way.
You didn't lose yourself. You just haven't been given the map back.
Motherhood changed you — that's not the problem. The problem is that nobody gave you language for the shift, so you've been quietly wondering what's wrong with you instead.
Nothing is wrong with you. There's a gap between who you were and who you're becoming — and the Self/Shift Method exists to close it.
Self/School is a four-module self-paced course for mothers who have spent years showing up for everyone else — and are ready to come back to themselves.
Perfect for: The mom who doesn't recognize herself anymore
You are not your work. You are not your kids.
If you sacrifice yourself, nobody wins.
You're doing everything right. So why does it feel like something's missing?
You love your kids. You might even love your work. And still, there's this low hum underneath everything — a feeling you can't quite name.
Maybe it sounds like this:
"I used to be so sure of myself. Now I second-guess everything."
"I keep waiting for life to go back to normal, but I don't think that woman is coming back."
"Everyone got a new version of me — my kids, my boss, my partner. Except me."
Here's what nobody tells you: becoming a mother is one of the most significant identity shifts a woman ever goes through. It has a beginning, a middle, and — this is the part they leave out — a becoming. But no one hands you a name for it, so you file it under "I'm just tired" and keep going.
You're not just tired. You're in the gap.
You aren’t broken. You’ve been running on empty for so long you’ve forgotten what full feels like.
You've disappeared inside your roles.
You're a devoted mother, partner, and professional. And you are exhausted. Not just tired — depleted in a way that a weekend away won't fix.
You're stuck in the in-between.
You know something needs to change, but you can't quite name it. The primary thing you need right now is clarity — about who you actually are outside of what you do for everyone else.
Your needs have quietly vanished.
You've been conditioned to believe your worth is measured by how much you provide. And slowly, your own wants, desires, and passions got squeezed out of the equation.
You miss your ambition.
You haven't lost your drive — it's buried under the mental load. You want a life that has room for your ambition and your motherhood. Not one or the other.
INTRODUCING THE METHOD
The Self/Shift Method
A 4-step framework to see who you've been, reclaim what's yours, and rebuild a life that fits the woman you're becoming.
Step 1 · Self/Less — See the gap. Name what motherhood took without asking. You'll identify which of the Five Gaps is running your life — Permission, Clarity, Authenticity, Identity, or Capacity — and finally have a word for the thing you've been feeling. (Spoiler: once you can name it, it stops naming you.)
Step 2 · Self/Aware — Meet your selves. Untangle who's actually making your decisions. Using the Four Selves framework — Past Self, Mother Self, Borrowed Self, Future Self — you'll see exactly whose expectations you've been living by. Most women discover a Borrowed Self has been driving for years.
Step 3 · Self/Ish — Reclaim what's yours. This is the permission step. You'll practice taking up space again — your needs, your time, your ambition — without the guilt spiral. "Selfish" stops being an accusation and starts being a practice.
Step 4 · Self/Shift — Rebuild forward. Design your Future Self on purpose. You'll integrate career, ambition, and motherhood so they stop competing and start compounding — and walk away with an identity blueprint for the woman you're becoming, not the one you're grieving.

THE SELF METHOD · FOUR MODULES
One return to self.
Self/School follows the S.E.L.F. framework — four sequential modules that take you from honest self-assessment to a life you actually designed. Work at whatever pace feels sustainable. There's no timeline and no performance required.
This is for you if:
You can't remember the last thing you did just for yourself.
You feel resentful but can't explain why.
Your identity feels entirely wrapped up in being "mom."
You want more — and feel guilty for wanting it.
MODULE 01 · THE DISAPPEARING ACT
Know Your Self.
→ Name and validate your burnout
→ Understand the cost of over-giving
→ See the patterns that got you here
Honest self-assessment. Where you are vs. where you want to be. Name the burnout. Understand the cost. This is your starting line.
MODULE 2 · WHAT YOU'VE BEEN CARRYING
Expand Your Self.
→ Map your invisible load
→ Identify the conditioning behind your self-sacrifice
→ Begin to set down what isn't yours
Rediscover your values, desires, and identity outside of caregiving. What lights you up — independently of what you do for others?
MODULE 3 · FINDING YOUR WAY BACK
Learn to Let Go.
→ Reconnect with your values, desires, and identity
→ Rediscover what makes you feel like yourself
→ Practice being a person, not just a mother
Release the stories, conditioning, and patterns keeping you stuck. Shift negative self-talk. Make room for what's actually next for you.
MODULE 4 · MOTHERHOOD ON YOUR TERMS
Find Fulfillment.
→ Examine the beliefs that shaped your caregiving
→ Define what sustainable motherhood looks like for you
→ Build small rituals and commitments that last
Align your self-awareness with your real life. Design a version of motherhood that feels honest, sustainable, and actually has room for you in it.

Hi, I'm Tiffany.
I'm a career strategist and self-development coach for mothers, and I built the Self/Shift Method because I needed it first.
I know what it's like to be ambitious and exhausted at the same time. To grieve the woman you were while loving the life you have. To feel like your career and your motherhood are fighting over the same square inch of you.
Here's what I believe, and what this entire method is built on: being a mother requires being honest with ourselves about which needs can be met through motherhood — and which needs can only be met through the continued development of self.
Your career shouldn't come at the cost of your life. Your ambition isn't a problem to fix. And you're allowed to build a life that actually fits.
Your guide
I'm Tiffany Madvig.
I specialize in empowering moms to rediscover, reconnect, and reclaim their sense of self.
I created the Self/School method because I know what it feels like to be deeply capable, genuinely devoted to your family, and quietly disappearing at the same time. The version of you that existed before motherhood didn't go away. She just needs to be found again.
Unlike many methods that emphasize child-rearing techniques, the SELF/SCHOOL Method prioritizes the mother's personal identity. It encourages mothers to explore their own values, desires, and aspirations independent of their kids, while fostering a strong sense of self that can often be overshadowed or overlooked by the demands of work and motherhood.
This course is the framework I wish I'd had. It's honest, structured, and entirely yours to work through at your own pace.
The woman you were isn't coming back. The woman you're becoming is waiting.
You've spent years shifting shape around everyone else's needs. The Self/Shift Method is the map back to your own.

OBJECTION-HANDLING / FAQ
"I don't have time for this." The method was built by a mother, for mothers. Each module takes about 90 minutes a week — less time than the scrolling you're doing at 10pm wondering why you feel like this.
"Is this therapy?" No — and it's not a substitute for it. This is identity work and self-development. If you're navigating something clinical, this pairs beautifully with therapy but doesn't replace it.
"What if I'm too far gone / too deep in the little years?" There's no "too late" on becoming yourself. The little years are actually when the gap is loudest — which makes it the clearest time to name it.
"I've done self-help before. How is this different?" Most self-help asks you to add habits. The Self/Shift Method asks a prior question: who is doing the habits? Identity first. Everything else takes shape from there.
